Double primed cotton has a good medium weave and weight. This canvas is superb for portrait artists. Additionally, it is ideal for virtually any technique where you want to see just a hint of the linen surface and just enough tooth to hold heavy layers of paint while still maintaining the smooth, rich texture inherent in any serious portrait canvas.

CP43 Cotton duck canvas is much less expensive than linen, and has become the most popular support for oil and acrylic painting, especially for students. A properly prepared cotton canvas has longevity similar to linen, and is more flexible and easier to stretch properly. For both oil and acrylic painting, an acrylic gesso primer is generally used.
